Your Chance to Be a Part of the State YF&R Committee


yf & rYoung farmers and ranchers are a rare commodity these days, yet you are probably one of agriculture’s most important.  It is imperative that we surface new leaders that will work to continue our agricultural way of life for generations to come.  As a young farmer or rancher, an organization like Farm Bureau is a valuable tool to have under your belt.  You have many challenges ahead of you; we will strive to provide you with all the tools you will need.

We are currently seeking representatives for the State Young Farmer and Rancher Committee.  This year is an odd-numbered year, which means that all odd-numbered district representatives’ terms are up.  We need to find their replacements.  If you are a producer member, age 18-35 from one of the following counties, you are eligible to apply:

Adams, Alamosa, Baca, Boulder, Chaffee, Cheyenne, Conejos, Costilla, Delta, Fremont, Custer, Gunnison, Huerfano, Kiowa, Kit Carson, Larimer, Las Animas, Lincoln, Mesa, Montrose, Pueblo, Rio Grande, Saguache, Weld.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Chance to attend National Leadership Conferences
  • Opportunities to visit the nation’s capital in Washington, D.C.
  • Assist with the planning and organization of a visit with Legislators at the State Capital
  • Develop Leadership Skills and Political Knowledge
  • Assist with the planning and organization of the State YF&R Leadership Conference
  • Assist with and/or compete in State Discussion Meet Competition or other contests
  • Chance to meet and network with other Young Farmers and Ranchers from across the state

The ten-member committee will meet no more than 5 times in one year.  It is not difficult to belong to this committee, and the rewards are tremendous for those who are active.
