EPA Closer to GHG Reporting

The White House Office of Management and Budget has completed a review that moves the Environmental Protection Agency closer to publishing final rules requiring companies to report their greenhouse gas emissions, according to media reports.

EPA’s draft proposal released in March would require reporting from facilities with direct emissions equivalent to 25,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions per year or more.

Industry data collection under the draft rule would begin in January 2010, with the first reports due to EPA in March 2011.
