Post Publishes CFB Opinion Piece

The Denver Post today published an opinion piece by CFB and other groups on the Clean Water Restoration Act. The piece rejects the broad and overreaching federal authority over water that the CWRA would impose saying,

The new definition of “waters of the U.S.” contained in the legislation includes all “intrastate waters” including “intermittent streams” and “tributaries.” This new definition could allow regulators and third parties to assert jurisdiction over roadside ditches, municipal storm drains used for flood control and other purposes, small desert washes that carry water only a few hours a year, and other features on the landscape that may carry water.

The piece was undersigned by The Colorado Competitive Council (one of the state’s orgs that represent business and chambers of commerce across the state); Colorado Concern; Colorado Dairy Producers; Colorado Farm Bureau; Colorado Stone, Sand and Gravel Association; and the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce (the Denver Chamber represents over 3,000 businesses and over 300,000 employees of those businesses).
