Mid Summer Meeting Starts 09 Policy Development

Welcome to Copper Mountain!

The annual CFB Mid-Summer meeting took place recently at the Copper Mountain Resort near Frisco. An integral part of the policy development process, the Mid-Summer meeting serves as the starting point for the annual policy development process and as a way for members to get away from the busy summer and relax for a day or two in the mountains.

This year’s meeting had a somewhat altered schedule. With a shortened General Session, advisory committees, which include Crops, Specialty Crops, Animal Ag, Water and Wildlife/Environment committees, had additional time to meet and discuss issues. Speakers and presenters also had more time to discuss issues with their respective committees.

Director of the Department of Natural Resources, Harris Sherman, addresses the membership.

The results were more in-depth and thorough committee meetings that yielded more focused and specific policy recommendations for the counties to review. The official policy development guide and informational CD’s will be mailed to county presidents soon. Counties should remember that the deadline to submit policy recommendations is October 9th.

This is also the last year that the Mid-Summer meeting will take place in Copper Mountain. Next year we will be traveling to Alamosa and will have more activities and outings planned. District 7 is excited to show the rest of the state just how much the San Luis Valley has to offer! More pictures can be found on the CFB Flickr page.
